RE: Another Garden Dug Up - November 22, 2019 @goldenoakfarm
I was just browsing through your photos and posts, your extension/reno is really coming along. All that extra space you will have - so awesome.

RE: Chocolate Eggs? Don't Mind if I Do (So Did James Bond!)
copper marans are my favorite - ours have always been sweet in nature and the eggs are so pretty. When we get more chickens it will probably be all Maran, they seem to handle the cold and heat and everything

RE: Milkweed & The Monarch Butterfly: An Endangered Species In Canada
Maybe there's a big patch of milkweed growing nearby? You have such a lovely garden even with all the construction I am sure it offers a wonderful habitat.

RE: Milkweed & The Monarch Butterfly: An Endangered Species In Canada
It is truly a beautiful plant and there are many varieties - I keep thinking we should plant a whole row just to see what happens - the thought of hundreds of butterflies taking flight around us is quite

RE: Homes as Sites of Creative Expression: A Love Story
Reading this made my heart flutter - so beautiful and somehow its made me feel quite sentimental all of a sudden! Your mosaic backsplash is just the best - every time I see a picture of it I want to go

RE: Coconut Kefir: Culture from Caucasus
Coconut Keifer sounds so perfect - much better than milk-based which I don't really drink. I'm going to have to hunt down some grains to get started.

I couldn't keep up with it either which was my downfall but I'd love to try it again! Now to find the elusive grains as it isn't a thing around here yet.

RE: How to Make Your Mother In Law Disappear
Beautiful!!This style of drawing reminds me of the storytelling /style of Inuit art. When there isn't a written language or the right words, art like this can tell a story just the same.

RE: Pepé Le Pew Strikes Again
I keep hoping the dogs will begin to equate skunks with misery but for some reason, they just haven't learned to keep away. Makes my eyes water even after multiple baths - with a special soap. Porcupines

RE: European Bellflower | Ancient Vegetable & Fairy Tales
yes, these are wild so I haven't got much say in where they grow. I made that same mistake with lupin and it's becoming a bit of a headache because it swallows up so many other plants.

I thought of you when I was writing the review. Yes, it would be amazing for your area and I think you'll love it.

RE: Pepé Le Pew Strikes Again
Skunks and porcupines are my least favorite visitors - two very small critters that cause us so much trouble.

And did you know if you spray the dough hook of a large mixer with oil that it will prevent the dough from climbing up the hook? I did not! I didn't know that either! Very cool and useful.

The house is full of bundles of flowers drying. The guest bedroom is a botanical oasis (lol) hopefully no one decides to do a surprise visit because they'll be sleeping amidst a thousand wildflowers. So

haha ... pep in my sitting. No long walks for me yet. :( I have devised a method of plunking a folding chair in front of a bush or garden bed and doing some of the work that would require a lot of bending

That is so true. I've actually dug up some wild plants and transplanted them to my garden so we have them here (especially those that grow along roadsides where it's not the best to be harvesting). Wild
