It is true doctors, pharmacies and vets as well get payed to subscribe a certain medicine to you or treatment.
Hospital is a business, they have to make money, doctors want to earn a big income too.
I do not think the ambulance can pick the hospital and work that way.

Your aunt is right. The lady made me laugh (be aware doctors do not like you if you decide for yourself or questioning them. I had that experience again as I left the hospital a few days ago).
