🧆 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
🧄 1 tablespoon garlic paste
🌿 1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped
🌶️ 1-2 small red chilies, chopped (or about 1/2 teaspoon)
🍃 A few curry leaves, chopped (or about 1/4 teaspoon)
🧂 1 teaspoon salt
💠 A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
🌿 1 teaspoon coriander powder
🌿 1 teaspoon cumin powder (jeera powder)
🌶️ 1 teaspoon red chili powder
🌕 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
🧂 1/2 teaspoon masala spice blend
💧 1/2 to 3/4 cup water
🛢️ 1-2 cups cooking oil for shallow frying (Canola Oil, brand not specified)
Instructions
1- Prepare Breadfruit:
- Boil the frozen breadfruit until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Once done, slice it into thin pieces.
2- Prepare Batter:
- In a stainless steel mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, garlic paste, chopped fresh coriander, red chilies, and curry leaves.
3- Add Spices:
- Mix in the salt, asafoetida, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and masala spice blend into the dry ingredients.
4- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- Use a spoon to thoroughly mix all the dry ingredients and spices.
5- Form Batter:
- Gradually add water to the dry mixture while continuously mixing.
- Ensure a smooth, medium-consistency batter is formed.
6- Coat Breadfruit:
- Dip each boiled and sliced breadfruit piece into the batter.
- Ensure it is fully coated.
7- Heat Oil:
- Place a frying pan or wok on a gas stove.
- Heat the canola oil until hot.
8- Fry Pakoras:
- Gently place the batter-coated breadfruit slices into the hot oil.
- Fry them in batches.
9- Cook Until Golden:
