This week I'm back with another shot from Mudjimba beach on the Sunshine coast in Queensland Australia. Of the beautiful Mudjimba island also known by the locals as old women island.
There are two different Aboriginal dreamtime stories about the island.
One is a women was stranded on the island and lived there into her old age. Hence old women's island.
The other story is about the creation of Mudjimba Island. The story goes there were two men, Coolum and Ninderry,(which are now both local town names) who fought over a woman called Maroochy. Ninderry knocked Coolum’s head off and it landed in the sea to become Mudjimba Island.
The island is home to some amazing fish and great for scuba diving and snorkeling along the coral reef.
On the right days the surf break at old womans is amazing!
Fun fact about Mudjimba island.
It was once owned by actor Sean Connery.
