Berkley was an old Victorian building with ivy on its face wall, like whiskers on an old man's chin.

It was probably a rectory, or ancient place of worship, for new schools used to be old churches.

Pre-school started in a cottage slash in-law suite, which was attached to the gymnasium on Lincoln place. The main spire had descents of rolling staircases for the absence of modern elevators; an ancient, dumbwaiter system probably had not been discovered by the twentieth century.

There were no rodents visible to the public. They probably resided in the other Berkley; nineteenth century buildings had dual personalities. All these entities had one address in common tied together with asphalt, mortar, limestone, sandstone, brick and cement.
