Excellent to hear haejin! Back then I completely understand your stance and did the exact same thing: If everyone else was just going to abuse the system, then why should I be a sucker and just forfeit

Very much looking forward to communities and agree that they will play a crucial role in content discovery and platform engagement. Quoc and Eon definitely deserve recognition for their contributions.

RE: Bring back bots! Steem-Engine is a bigger menace!
I have nothing against alt coins. The market can decide what they're worth. I'm against alt coins being used to buy votes on here. Not only do they serve to undermine honest voting like all other forms

The reward pool doesn't empty It comes from inflation, the currency increases at a certain rate, around 8%pa right now, but goes down over time. About 65% of that goes into the reward pool split 50/50

Yes. Basically these practices all share something in common: they're content indifferent voting behavior. When you vote on your own post farms, or swap votes, or sell votes, you don't care about the content

No you're not taking part in abusive behavior if you're just automatically voting for people who you've consider to have built a reputation for decent quality content over time and trust their upcoming

Just to also clarify, it's not just a matter of trending as money going through votes that are being bought are by definition not going towards rewarding content creators whose content alone are deserving

They're still written on chain, but through custom json But your point stands that they don't have to be written on chain I don't think it's trivially easy to create a vote selling service with very far

For now SCT and Steemmonsters are operating almost entirely on vote selling through alt coins and a few self/affiliate votes. Maybe there are a few more. They've been getting away with a lot as most of

You can't detect it precisely unless you're the voter yourself, in which case you know pretty well if it's the content influencing your decision or not (eg if they're paying you to vote on their post,

They're not being downvoted because of whatever alleged good they're doing. They're being downvoted because of vote selling. As I explained, it completely undermines the ability for us to function as a

Don't buy and sell votes, it undermines honest voting. Content creators are competing for the attention of stakeholders in a level playing field. Paying for votes completely defeats the process of rewarding

It not obvious to me that POB doesn't work at all, because we've never had an economic system since inception that made any sense. POB requires honest voting, that is to say a decent correlation between

I have a much lower bar right now: I just want broadly honest vote platform wide If people are actually voting based on their subjective tastes, that's a huge win. We just need to disincentivize content
