Not having much of an interest in Soccer, I did stake some tokens, but in general my plan is to flip them into Hive or Splinterlands assets.

I think it depends on the tokenomics of the specific project. If you are minting an unlimited supply of a coin, then having burning mechanisms in place make sense to keep down the supply in the long run.
