[CONCERN] I have a problem with Steemit. Help me understand

Hey Everyone,

If you've read any of my posts you will see that I really love the Steemit platform. I do have a big concern though.

I know Steemit is still in it's infancy but I have a fear that it will become a website with no real direction other than for people to make money. At the moment the site is full of stories, introductions, random musings and questions. So what really is Steemit? Is it a Blog platform? A question and answer site? Something else?

You see, I can see Steemit becoming a place for spammers and people posting garbage trying to make the odd buck. I would hate for it to become a place that has no real direction and eventually becomes abandoned because there is nothing of real quality to read.

What's your thoughts?
