Larken Rose is an author, activist, and one of the sharpest anti-state voices in today's freedom space. He's spent decades arguing that government isn't a necessary evil but an illegitimate institution—that the state's power rests on a hoax most people never examine. We highly recommend his book The Most Dangerous Superstition — his best-known work, arguing that the belief in government's legitimacy is the single most dangerous idea in human history. Larken also wrote the original Jones Plantation parable — a short allegory about a plantation owner who convinces his slaves to elect a "Jones" to run the plantation for them, so they end up governing themselves on his behalf while never questioning the ownership. It's become one of the most widely circulated pieces in anti-state circles, and for good reason: it lands the whole argument in a few minutes.
