The majestic marmot....ok, I might be the only person to have ever called a marmot majestic, but look at him! Such a beauty. Keeping watch on his log all day, every day. We camped next to his log for three night in the Cottonwood Lakes basin in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range in the Golden Trout Wilderness. A day's hike in this place is marmot heaven. I have never seen so many marmots in all my life. Romping through the meadows, making their homes among the rocks, keeping watch from sun up to sun down.
