A few days later my daughter brought some raffle numbers from her high school, which we decided to buy and surprise, we won a blender! Of course, of less power than the one we bought.
Then I thought about selling that blender we had just won, because we already had the one we wanted, but when I said that, my husband immediately added: Luck is not for sale, nor can it be given away.
So I completely discarded that idea, because although I don't consider myself superstitious, I don't want to burden myself with having "damaged anyone's luck", because at the end of the day, for better or worse, if you believe it, you believe it.
I remember when I was a little girl, I used to hear a lot that "don't sweep anyone's feet, because then you don't get married ".
For a long time I was careful to sweep without touching anyone's feet, because imagine how I could carry such a responsibility.
I even remember that as an adult, when I had the idea of not getting married, I would tell the others in my house: If they sweep my feet it doesn't matter, and several times they did it, not on purpose, but accidentally, but I still got married😅.
Nowadays that superstition doesn't count for me, it's not something that is used in my home.
Ever since I was a child I've heard: "Don't go in the fridge after you've ironed your clothes. " Whoa! I respect that one, because my logic tells me that the body's reaction to cold and intense heat simultaneously cannot be a good thing. Besides, there are always stories that this or that happened to so-and-so when she did it, so it's better to be safe.
"Don't go under the stairs because you'll have bad luck". From the first time I was forced to go under the stairs, I automatically discarded this premise, because I may be dumb, but not so dumb as to throw the noose around my neck and self-impose the bad luck I once decreed for myself.
And the fact is that, at least in my case, I do not adopt theories that do not favor me, especially when I have no other option and must go against them.
I'm so unmindful of superstitions, I didn't try "wear something borrowed when I got married, to bring luck to my marriage " and neither "I go with my suitcase every year-end to go around the block so I can travel the following year ".
Now I am trying to remember a few that I do like to implement, the kind that are tied to positive results....
When I have a bad thought or someone mentions a bad omen, I say: "Cancelled and transmuted ", I learned it from a friend and I stuck with that habit. Theoretically, with that I take away the strength for it to happen and, as the word has power, it is likely to work, at least that's what my logic says.
I also bite my tongue when a dog barks at me, to prevent it from attacking me. I don't remember where I learned it from, but I still do it, although it has no reasonable explanation.
I'm sure I follow many more, which at this moment I don't remember, because superstitions are part of our culture and we are rich in them.
