How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?
and the scorners delight in their scorning,
and fools hate knowledge?
Reader, let me ask you, what have you done recently or today to get wisdom? Are you merely lazy and stupid? Or are you too arrogant to accept instruction from other people? Or are you just foolishly in love with yourself? The Proverbs will reveal and show you which of these traits mentioned are your chief character flaw. This Proverb's questions are important reader. Lady Wisdom will soon be laughing at your calamities if you continue in your ignorance. ( Proverbs 1:24–32 ).
To those who will take it, Lady Wisdom offers wisdom. ( Proverbs 1:20–23 ). The principal matters of life, understanding and wisdom, why reject a free offer of them? ( Proverbs 4:7 ). You came into this world a scorner, totally simple, and hating knowledge. However, you don't need to remain or stay in that condition which is evil. Take Lady Wisdom's gracious offer, and repent. ( Proverbs 9:1–12 ).
What makes a simple person stupid? It is a combination of the following...
The mental work they leave to others. Simple men are very content doing the following...
The value of wisdom cannot be perceived by them. To them it sounds too hard to pursue wisdom, so instead in simplicity they wallow until they breathe their last breath.
Dear reader, may I ask respectfully, are you simple? Does your life consist of getting up, going to work, having a meal, taking time to relax and then going to bed? Do you let others provide answers and study issues? Are you intimidated by dilemmas which are complex? Do you prefer to do bodily exercise instead of studying? If to one or more of these questions you answered yes, then dear reader, you are simple.
But fear not dear reader, Lady Wisdom calls to the simple. She is saying...
“How long will ye love simplicity?
Reader, this question might seem harsh, but ask yourself, "Why am I content in being stupid?" A simple man can be made wise by the words of God. All he has to do is...
( See below Scriptures )
If you neglect Lady Wisdom's offer, you will bear the consequences and you will live and die in simplicity.
Do you know what Scorners are? They are arrogant people who despise those individuals who try to teach them or correct them. They are stubborn, flagrantly haughty and rebellious. Any effort to reprove them is greeted with mockery and resentment due to them being puffed up with pride. Towards authority they are disrespectful in a snottily manner. Hated by men and God, they are, in Proverbs, the most profane character(s). See below Scripture...
Reader, do you see yourself as a scorner? When corrected by authoritative teachers, do you bristle? Do you accuse others? Do you take pleasure in snide remarks? To excuse your rebellion, do you look for excuses? Do you resent authority because you believe you are wise? Just because you disagree, do you mock a teacher or parent? Reader you are a scorner.
Lady Wisdom calls to scorners. She is saying ...
“How long will you delight in scorning?
Why do you take pleasure in being a profane scorner?”
Lady Wisdom offers wisdom even to these individuals, even though wise men are taught to reject and ignore scorners. See below Scripture ...
The God of heaven will crush these individuals under His feet if they reject Lady Wisdom's merciful offer.
Fools are lazy and stubborn people. Although they are not as vicious and conceited as scorners. They see no need to make changes in their lives or listen to anyone because they are so in love with themselves. They quickly return to wallowing in folly and to their own vomit. ( Proverbs 26:11 ). Due to their love of their own thoughts by resisting instruction they hate knowledge. ( Proverbs 18:2 ).
Reader, are you a fool? Do you think you do not need teachers and that you have a good head on your shoulders? Do you like hearing the sound of your own voice? Are you confident that you are always right? Instead of listening humbly, do you rather go for a sharp retort? When you cannot have your way, do you get angry? Do you believe you could be a good teacher? You are a fool.
Aaaah but Lady Wisdom also calls to fools. She is saying ...
“How long will you hate knowledge?
Why do you resist learning what is right?”
Even to these foolish and stupid individuals, Lady Wisdom offers liberal wisdom. Even though wise men are taught to ignore fools and silence them. See below Scripture ...
They will die hopeless deaths and lead lives that are dysfunctional if they do not heed the offer she is giving.
Reader, ask your self this... On this scale, where do I fall? Am I a real fool? Or am I a simpleton? Or am I a haughty scorner? You are one of these three if you have not done anything today to pursue wisdom. Regardless, Lady Wisdom is offering you wisdom! If you choose to refuse her offer, then when troubles come to ruin your life she will refuse to help you. ( Proverbs 1:24–28 ).
Before you are the words of The Almighty Living God. They can make you wise dear reader. See below Scripture ...
But to become wise you must meditate on His Word and you must read His Word. Teachers have been sent to you by Him, from pastors to teachers. See below Scripture ...
However, you need to put them into practice and humbly submit yourself to their teaching. To those who will humbly beg God for wisdom, He has offered it. See below Scripture ...
Reader, when last have you prayed for it?
Why do you continue in your scornful, foolish and simple ways? To get your attention, what will it take? For you to leave your folly, your simplicity and your scorning, what will it take? Will a divorce do it? A home that's dysfunctional? A child that's rebellious? Financial trouble or professional trouble? Some time in prison perhaps? The lack of church and friends? A medical emergency perhaps? Maybe the death of a loved one?
