Hi, happy rainy weekend my people!
I don’t know about you, but this rain has been falling since morning. It’s the kind that makes you want to crawl back into bed, hold pillow tight, and forget the world for small. The rain has me in my feelings today, and I guess that’s why I finally feel ready to put this into words something that’s been quietly weighing on me for a while.
Lately, I’ve been realising that my biggest fear isn’t some big, dramatic failure like losing everything I’ve worked for. It’s something softer, slower… the fear that I’ll be so focused on building a better future that I miss the actual living part.
It’s quieter than that more subtle. It’s the fear of working so hard for a better life that I forget to actually live it with the people who matter to me.
I’ve seen it happen. Growing up, I watched people in my family work from dawn till night, always on the move, always exhausted. It taught me to value hard work, yes but it also showed me what we sometimes lose in the process. Things like laughter around the dinner table, slow mornings, or just sitting down without looking at the clock.
These days, I catch myself falling into that same pattern. Saying “I’m busy” to my sister one too many times. Postponing little moments because I’m chasing something bigger.
Then there’s the health part. I’ve seen people ignore their bodies for years until it finally catches up. The fear that I’ll keep running till my body forces me to stop it’s real. I don’t want to break down in my 30s or 40s because I was chasing something without balance.
And let me not lie, I also fear that if something happens to me today, my family might have to start from scratch. That one fear alone keeps me up sometimes. I want to build something solid something that gives them options, if I’m not around.
So how am I handling all this?
Small steps.
I’ve started drawing lines between work and life. Even if I work from home, I try to “close” at a certain time. I take morning walks when I can, I make time for family, even if it’s just a shared meal or gist at night. I’m also reading more about finances and planning better. No more winging it.
There was a time fear would just stop me in my tracks I’d overthink, freeze, do nothing. But these days, I try to listen to what it's telling me. So I’m choosing presence over pressure one rainy day at a time.
Thank you for reading. I wish you good health and a lovely weekend.
