RE: Making Vegetable Stock for the Pantry -by Sunscape
I totally agree, $400 is a lot of money but I know everyone loves them. I'm good with mine, I have two now. One is over 30 + years old, the new one I bought last year, and I can do a double layer of half-pints

You should save your veggie scraps they make a nice stock for soups. Pressure canners are fussy, mine fluctuates for the first half hour until I get it to the right temp, lol. I usually work on a puzzle

RE: A mad start to August waiting in stopped traffic.
What great photos of the birds in the air during your traffic jam. I have to agree with you; people are always in such a hurry on the road and no longer obey traffic rules. It is crazy out on the highways

You have found so many wonderful varieties and the fact that you know what their names are is impressive. ♥

RE: Broccoli and Other Stuff - July 30, 2025 @goldenoakfarm
Too bad you lost so much broccoli this year. Your helper certainly can get a lot done in one visit. ♥

We both love soup, so broth is a staple for us. I need to get some chicken bones stocked up to make some this fall. lol Never resting too much, are we?

I hope you get a good harvest from the broccoli. I know you haven't been able to keep up with the gardens. :-(

Awe, love the sunflower already blooming. That morning fog reminds me of days on the farm when I was younger.

That's too bad that your help did a poor job for you. At least the floors are a bit cleaner, Geeze-Louise!

RE: It Got Better - July 25, 2025 @goldenoakfarm
It's nice to hear your pain is lessening. That netting should work out nicely for the gardens. That was a good find. ♥

RE: Herbs Galore! Time to Harvest and Preserve - by Sunscape
I know it is so hard for you right now; but you will catch up, I'm sure of it. Freezing little pucks for later use really works well for me. I do it with different herbs and for garlic too. Be well!

Absolutely, each day I have something to do with the gardens and Mika is my constant companion. She loves to help pull weeds. lol

Ooops! Not Lemon Balm, can you take a photo of it and look it up to identify? I do that with my iPhone if I'm uncertain about a plant. It is accurate most of the time.

RE: Trying to Keep Keepin’ On - July 23 & 24, 2025 @goldenoakfarm
Ugh! Missing good weather due to pain and then another heatwave shows up. Geeze, at least you have house chores you can get done. I'm canning soups this week for the pantry. Too hot to be outside.

Awe, I know, Pam. You have been having a terrible time with your pain. I sure hope the medications help you. I've been so busy trying to keep it under control, yikes it is exhausting. Feel better!
