The original bass part doesn't exist. We are allowed to make anything we want in this music. All the instruments. There are standard rhythms to honor, but anything goes within that style. Bossa Nova style. Brazilian style.
Bass: Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe 4 String… also known as “Bread and Butter.” when I was a full-time musician I used this bass for long periods of time. I modified it for longevity. Light strings, heavy mass bridge, low action, grenade launcher, thick strap, and very useful controls (even when broken). Technically it's broken, but I just deal with it. I wan't more mid anyway. I spent a long time carving mid-range out of my bass. Now, I want it.
