Have any parents on a modest income tried to provide everything needed for an aspiring GB athlete?
Well this exactly the position I find myself in except I have two kids to provide for.
Both recently travelled with their mum to Setubal in Portugal to compete in the European Biathle championships for GB
The frustrating thing is that Biathle (run then swim then run with transition) isn't a UK funded sport so all the cost have to met by mum and dad. This includes travel, GB kits, and accommodation for 3 days.
Gladly the financial sacrifice has been worth every penny as both boys did extremely well. Both boys won their heats and made the finals. My older lad came a very respectable 8 position whereas my younger boy won an individual silver medal and the team gold medal...... well done boys! from one very proud dad xx
