The free movement of labour within the EU is absolutely key to build and sustaining a prosperous Europe however, the free movement of people isn’t. But how do we have one without the other?
Europe is very culturally diverse continent and the notion of a one size fits all Europe is farcical. Just last month the leaders of just three countries Germany, France and Italy had a mini summit to talk about the direction Europe should take in the wake of Brexit I mean Brenaissance.
The simplicity of the free movement of labour is such a beautifully simple idea mired of complex detail. I mean, if one nation is in need but lacks a particular skill or quantity of skill within its own workforce then Europe needs to act as one to fill the gap and therefore prosper as a whole. The only way this can be achieved is a points systems or a visa style system pegged to a guaranteed job offer. This Australian style system has been working well for decades and meets the ever changing needs for that country.
Theresa May said just yesterday that a points based system wouldn’t work for the UK but neglected to explain why. To me it’s simple if we need firemen let says then make it easy for firemen to move to the UK when we have enough firemen then make it difficult for firemen the emigrate …….
