Steemit is rapidly evolving. We're up to 50,000 users now. It's amazing and exciting. On average, a thousand new users join this site daily. Wow! I'm sure they'll bring us all sorts of new publicity, value and insights on an untold scale. And I'm terrified of that.
As more people join, more content will be made. More of it will be of a great quality. It might even be of tremendous quality. Perhaps the next Einstein or Newton will first share his inventions on Steemit! And that scares me. Because I might miss it. As the volume of posts increase, so too does my inability to read them all. The average post on Steemit takes around 5 minutes to read. With a volume of 50,000 users, even just a single post by each of them would take 250,000 minutes or 173 days to read. Wow!
That brings me to the subtitle. The current niche for Steemit is long and lengthy blog posts, that go very in depth toward their subject. This is great for a smaller network, or a dedicated group of friends that exchange information, but in the current form of Steemit the quantity becomes simply overwhelming.
