Maybe moving forward means keeping the good parts of that old self without needing the old relationship.

That's probably why looking at old pictures can make you emotional. You're seeing the person, but you're also seeing who you used to be.

And sometimes you romanticize the old version because you forget the things that made the relationship difficult.

Definitely. One big jump can disappear quickly, but months of steady improvement would make me much more confident about holding.

If the rise is slow enough, though, I think I would be less tempted to power down immediately. I would want to see whether the trend has room to continue.

And I don't think powering down should automatically mean someone has lost confidence. Sometimes they're simply taking advantage of a price they've waited a long time to see.

I would rather set levels beforehand. At one point I buy more, at another I hold, and if it gets high enough, I take some out.
