I think the biggest warning sign is when you constantly wish the new person was more like your ex.

And sometimes you don't realize how attached you still are until something reminds you of your ex.

I don't think you can give someone a completely fair chance if you're still emotionally attached to your ex.

After all, everyone remembers to celebrate the arrival of the baby. Someone should remember to care for the woman who made that arrival possible.

So I think the question shouldn't even be “Who matters more?” but “Who are we forgetting to care for?”

And sometimes the best way to care for the baby is to make sure the person caring for the baby is okay.

If I had to choose one person to check on more deliberately, I'd choose the mother.
