Probably both. The experience gives you the scars, but what you do with those scars determines whether they become useful.

Yes, I think some experiences only make sense much later. At the time, you just want to get past them, but eventually you realize they taught you something you needed.

Exactly. I'd rather have enough money and a family I genuinely enjoy coming home to than have everything financially but feel empty.

If I had to choose, yes. I don't think a dream job can replace a peaceful home.
