RE: Steem Bot Tracker - Doing Our Part for #newsteem
Doesn't this just create an easy way for someone to gain immunity from bot downvotes: Just buy a small vote from most or all of the bots. The bots (in your vision) won't remove the vote and presumably

That was the curve the developers were comfortable proposing at this point. There are some key properties that the reward curve needs to satisfy and you can't easily just pick any shape you want without

RE: Open Letter to all Steemians - Hardfork 21: Culture Change
Some interesting thoughts. I've generally been in favor of a much shorter power down time (whatever is needed to avoid exploits which seems to be something like 5 days), but there isn't consensus for it.

All the changes HF21 brings are percentage changes Free downvotes is brand new and not a percentage change. Some percentage changes can have a qualitatitive effect once thresholds are reached and it tips

Voting after the timer only works if there are no/few votes already during the timer. That's generally not the case for well-known content, so if you do have the chance to get in the first vote after the

Mostly I think we'll have to wait and see how it plays out. All of the estimates of the curve effect are very rough and depend on how voting changes. The whole purpose of the (EIP portion of the) fork

Don't be misled by confirmation bias. The information @timcliff gave you is correct and the information @valued-customer gave you is not correct.

Some content will earn more from the pool simply because the pool is a zero-sum game in the short term. The absolute value of the curve doesn't matter, only the relative value. Whatever is reduced the

RE: Hardfork 21 is HAPPENING. What will change?
The price of bought votes will likely decline. Whatever other changes might also happen due to freer use of downvotes, differences in voting behaviour, etc. is more speculative and more difficult to predict.

RE: Hardfork 21 is HAPPENING. What will change?
A flag would lead to a counter-flag This model fails when the original downvoter (flags don't exist any more) isn't depending on rewards (either self-voting milking type rewards or legitimate rewards).

The idea is to make things as simple as possible, but no simpler.

How exactly is the rewards curve changing? There is a link in the original post which answers this question.

The break even point they mentioned in the post is 20 STEEM not 20 SBD. That's more like $3.60 at current prices. Even somewhat below that, the effect is pretty modest. People are freaking out thinking

RE: Hardfork 21 is HAPPENING. What will change?
I see several comments which are over-rewarded mostly due to self-voting (I already downvoted one at my own expense since there are no free downvotes yet, and I may downvote others if I see them too).

Creating content does not create value. There is already a shit ton of content on this blockchain and how much value has been created? In fact the value has rather declined by 99% and with it the ability

The break even mentioned in the post is 20 STEEM, not $20. (It is also not a hard barrier; at 15 STEEM or 10 STEEM, or 30 for that matter, the difference is still pretty small). 20 STEEM = $3.60 currently.

RE: Open Letter to all Steemians - Hardfork 21: Culture Change
Running off 90% of the authors (as well as non-author users) is mostly a function of the value declining by 99% and the overall value proposition being weak IMO. That being said, if hypothetically 90%

I don't know that I agree with all of your generalizations. There are many bloggers and others on Steem who are not anonymous. People who are anonymous can still tell their friends about it without doxing
