And how to separate the gold from the rubbish? There is no one-size-fits-all answer. For myself, I know I listen to a lot of new stuff. And some of what sticks in my ears and echoes in my head is what I like.

Tim Timebomb and Friends - She's Drunk All the Time

Tim Timebomb or Tim Amstrong, better known as a member of the punk rock band Rancid has a lot of projects from Rancid's covers up to the movies. Here's one cool Irish/country tune with his friends which I discovered and listened to a couple of days ago. It's not the newest but it's been re-released recently.

Poison Suckers - Stick Up

The trashy pop lo-fi duo from Canada shows what the rock'n'roll should be. Although the production is minimal, it shows how everything is possible if you want it to be. With a bit of talent, of course. Recommended.

Les Envahisseurs - Monkey Monk

This French band survived the punk of the 1980s and returned 20 years later with an even fresher and more energetic sound. Garage rock-like. I think all possibilities are open.

Duran Duran - INVISIBLE

Although I'm not a Duran Duran fan, it's been a long time since they've been heard from and I was curious what they were doing now. The video is interesting, they say at the beginning:

Kroz vetar (Engl. Through the wind) is the new single by the Serbian rock band from their current album "Prazan prostor među nama koji može da ne postoji” (Engl. Empty space between us that can't stand). Energetic and uncompromising music in the characteristic style of their sound.

The Black Keys - Poor Boy a Long Way From Home

Another single from the new Delta Kream album. The Black Keys are definitely returning to their boogie and blues roots. And they do it perfectly!

Psihedelavci - Rdeči cvet

On their first single Rdeči cvet (Engl. Red Flower), Psihedelavci (Engl. Psychworkers), the Slovenian band presents a reinterpretation of a poem by Srečko Kosovel (1904-1926), Slovenian poetic icon. Psychoworkers play homogeneous, rhythmic-harmonic music that escapes genre constraints, although at moments it takes them into stoner waters.

Crumb - BNR

The Brooklyn-based Crumb Quartet has always been modest. Their music is seemingly equally subtle - a psychedelia ideal for self-questioning and hallucinogenic experimentation. Although the music is slow, I wouldn't say it's calm. I highly recommend it.
