BATTLE MAGE SECRETS - RULESET: Holy Protection Weekly Challenge!
Yodin Zaku is a great summoner to play most of the time and it is particularly good in the Holy Protection ruleset because it has potential to take away Holy Protection shield from 3 monsters with one strike.
I don't have Yodin Zaku summoner, so I devised a strategy to beat Yodin team in this battle:
Using Holy Protection ruleset to win a battle against Yodin Zaku Led team!
RULESET: Holy Protection
Description:
All units gain the Divine Shield ability which reduces the damage of the first attack received to 0.
Divine Shield will be re-applied when a unit is Resurrected.
Blast damage will remove Divine Shield.
The Strategy
My strategy here is to use speed, evasiveness and double strike in combination with sneak play.
I chose a new soul-bound reward dragon summoner so that I can gain speed and use Katrelba Gobson and her double strike sneak play. I also chose Iza The Fanged legendary ranged sneak card so give a third sneak attack per turn. Additionally I picked Dhampir Infiltrator for he double sneak strike bringing my attack to five in each round.
Upfront I put a formidable Terraceous Grunt with his twelve health, Dodge and Return Fire abilities all of which should be very beneficial against Yodin led team that tends to be heavy on ranged attackers. If my Grunt cannot dodge the attack it will return fire to the attacker. In the second position is another armor heavy fast monster Twilight Basilisk that comes with a two shield in addition to the holy protection shield.
And the last piece of strategy is my Clockwork Aide that speeds up the whole team and provides sneak and opportunity protection with it's nine shield.
The Summoner
Helios Matriarch is a new soul-bound rare dragon summoner that boosts the whole team with one speed and let's you play Gladiator cards in ranked matches.
1st Slot - Tank
Terraceous Grunt is a soul-bound common card which at level seven has a base speed of four, two melee damage and twelve health with dodge and return fire abilities all for the mana of six.
I don't have this monster fully leveled up for the gold league, but at level eight it gains one melee attack, but looses one health, so going from level seven to level eight isn't critical.
Using speed ups from the summoner and Clockwork Aide it now has five speed and dodge ability so I am hoping for some misses from the slower monsters on the opposing team. But even when it is hit it will return ranged damage to all of the ranged attackers.
2nd Slot - Armored Stun Monster
Twilight Basilisk is a rare reward dragon monster that is useful here for his reach and stun abilities as well as base two armor that should protect from the splash damage. It has a base two melee attack and four speed with four health for four mana total. With two speed ups it comes out of the gate at six speed.
3rd Slot - Fast Ranged Sneak Monster
Iza the Fanged is a legendary Chaos Core set monster that comes with a base speed of four, two ranged damage and three health with important sneak, scavenger and stun abilities.
It is the fastest sneak monster on the team at six speed and it should be the first to take out the holy protection shield.
4th Slot - Double-strike Sneak Monster
Dhampir Infiltrator is a rewards monster from the Chaos Legion set. It comes with a base speed of three, two melee damage and four health with important sneak and double strike and cripple abilities.
5th Slot - Gladiator Double Sneak Monster
Katrelba Gobson is a common Gladiator card that is designed to play a key role in this battle. At level four Katrelba comes with a base speed of three, three melee damage, four health and a crucial bloodlust ability that increases her stats with each kill. It also has the very important to my strategy double strike and sneak abilities.
6th Slot - Sneak Protection and Speed-up Monster
Clockwork Aide is important for the speed up and nine shield to protect against sneak attacks. It is an usual soul-bound card that comes with nine shield, one health point and one speed with swiftness ability for four mana.
THE BATTLE
As expected my opponent brought a powerful Yodin Zaku lead team of mostly ranged monsters. He also brought a couple speed-ups one magic and one sneak monster. The last monster comes out with a speed of eight and flying ability which could be a problem for our sneak monsters... Let's see how this will turn out
In the first round we were lucky to take out their last two monsters and our Katrelba gained one speed and one melee damage and one health. They lost one of the speedups in Supply Runner and the fast eight speed flying monster. Our frontline is taking heavy damage with our tank down to four health from twelve and our second monster loosing his holy protection shield, two regular shield and is down to just one health. Let's hope our luck continues, we will need it!
In round two we missed with our ranged sneak attacker and even Katrebla missed it's first strike. The second strike did manage to take out their flying ranged monster giving Katrelba speed of seven, melee damage of four and bringing her health back up to hive. We did loose our reach monster.
In round three Katrelba did miss one of her strikes so she didn't get the kill, however we were lucky that we did take out their legendary magic monster. We did end up loosing our tank though, but it is starting to look like a win!
And in round Four Katrelba goes first and managed to take out both of the remaining monsters on the opposing team! With the final kill her specs go up to seven melee damage, nine speed and six health!
And this is a win!
