Einstein@Home servers maintenance
As mentioned last week the web frontend servers for Einstein@Home will go offline for an hour on 18th of October 13:30 UTC. They will upgrade the webservers hardware and the backend for WUs and BOINC connections will be unaffected. Official Thread
WIRED Magazine posted an article where they interviewed Berkeley SETI Research Center's Steve Croft and Eric Korpela, and the SETI Institute's Seth Shostak, about one method they use to figure out whether claimed ETI signals are legit.
The Harvard Clean Energy project continues to work towards finding new classes of materials for clean, renewable, solar energy. We are now analyzing the results of a virtual high-throughput screening of fullerene alternative materials. These materials will help to expand the toolkit for our collaborators who fabricate these devices. We are working with several groups in Mexico and Canada to begin the synthesis of these compounds.
More than 20,000 people were nominated to attend South by South Lawn, a White House event designed to bring together a creative, entrepreneurial group to discuss some of the world's biggest issues. World Community Grid manager Juan Hindo was one of the few who was picked to attend the event.
