How do tackle situations where relatives blame us unnecessarily and simply to spread slander?

Recently, I came across a wapp group where our relatives talked badly of us in spite of the fact that we have never hurt them in any way and only have helped them always. It was done out of spite and just to spread bad about us. Unfortunate that whatsapp is also used for such hate groups. How do we tackle the situation?
