Fascinating study. It reminds me of the game of monopoly study in which some participants were given unfair advantages and by the end of the game believed they had won by their own good game play. I think it's the same in life that people who are rich believe themselves to be rich by their own merit - not that the system's rigged in anyway. Under such circumstances, as this study shows, people are less inclined to give to those less "deserving" than themselves. I think it all started in the 1980s with the advent of liberal conservatism/ neo-conservativism.
