Upvote. I spent most of my life doing the sensible things. For my first car my mother (herself very sensible) said get a sports car, I bought a hatchback. I was the responsible driver for a decade of nights out. Didn’t pick up a girl once in those 10 years. I saved for a house. I worked an average of 55 hours a week for years. I went long stretches without a girlfriend. I worked for the same company for 42 years. I didn’t enjoy it. It paid the bills
I didn’t shoot my shot, I didn’t even take the safety off. Send me back to my twenties and I would really try to change the record. I didn’t have a dream or the courage to take a chance
I suppose though that the cautious guy regrets not taking chances, maybe if your life’s a mess then stability is much more appealing. Now I have a decent pension, I’m worth £1m on paper but have dodgy joints, not many stories, and a huge list of bands I wish I’d seen live
In 10 years, assuming I’m still here, I’ll probably be regretting not doing things right now. I eat grains, do yoga, get my 10k steps in but I’m on bumble FFS. Sometimes we can’t change who we are
