School diaries: The forest project

We have been working together with the Teacher of the fourth grade on a project she started about the forest. Since I get to teach Art in her class, I had the students make various crafts in order to make a "forest corner" where all the material (posters, photos etc) they work on during the project will go. We picked a corner of the class that was free, added a small table there and we put together a beautiful forest scene made by the hands of our kids.

What we created?
Two triptychs made with pieces of a carton crater. I had a small carton crater I was about to throw in the recycling bin, but then I changed my mind as I saw it becoming two wonderful triptychs for our forest corner. I cut the crater in half and gave the students various tree scenes to color. Then, the kids cut their drawings and gave them to me to glue them.

The first one is a simple forest scene...

While the second depicted the tranquility of a night at a forest village.

The 3d details of more trees, some snowmen and houses added "volume" to the synthesis and gave more life to our forest.

The background has yet to be filled with forest pictures and drawings and the posters the kids will make with their Teacher (all with facts about the forest) will go to the sides. It will be a lovely corner both educational and creative! 🌲🏡🌳
