Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing amazing and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright, time for another #Splinterlands card spotlight!
Today I'm looking at a card that honestly caught my attention because of its really low mana cost.
The card is, Argarux Magus.
Argarux Magus is a Rare Water unit, and at max level 8 it has 2 abilities:
Scattershot
Bloodlust
And even though it only has two abilities, I think there is actually quite a lot going on with this little guy.
The mana cost is only 3, which immediately makes it interesting for low mana battles.
And then you add Bloodlust on top of that, things can get crazy pretty quickly.
So when I first looked at Argarux Magus, my first thought was basically:
"3 mana? That's it?"
At max level, the card has:
3 Mana
2 Magic Attack
6 Health
4 Speed
And honestly, those are not bad stats at all for only 3 mana.
The 4 speed is especially nice because it gives the card a pretty good chance of attacking before slower enemy units.
The 6 health also surprised me.
For a card that only costs 3 mana, having that much health means it isn't going to disappear instantly if the opponent looks at it the wrong way.
But obviously, the most interesting part isn't just the stats.
It's the abilities.
Scattershot: Magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit.
The first ability is Scattershot.
This means Argarux Magus doesn't have to target a specific enemy.
Instead, its magic attacks target a random enemy unit.
At first, this might sound like a disadvantage.
You can't choose the enemy you want to attack.
But honestly, I think Scattershot can sometimes be really useful.
Especially when the enemy has a strong tank sitting at the front.
Normally, you might spend several turns attacking that tank.
But with Scattershot, Argarux Magus can potentially hit something else.
Maybe it hits a support unit.
Maybe it hits a damage dealer.
Maybe it hits something hiding in the back.
You don't really know.
And that's kind of the fun part.
Of course, randomness can also completely troll you.
You might be hoping for an important target and the attack goes somewhere completely useless.
That's #Splinterlands for you.
Bloodlust: +1 to all stats after dealing a killing blow.
Now this is where things get REALLY interesting.
Argarux Magus has Bloodlust.
Bloodlust gives the unit +1 to all stats after it gets a killing blow.
So basically, if this little 3 mana unit manages to kill something, it gets stronger.
And if it keeps getting kills?
It keeps getting stronger.
This is the part that makes Argarux Magus much more interesting than its small mana cost would suggest.
Imagine the battle starts and your Magus gets a lucky Scattershot hit.
Enemy unit dies.
Bloodlust activates.
Now the Magus gets stronger.
Then maybe it gets another kill.
Another Bloodlust.
And suddenly your little 3 mana card has turned into something the opponent actually needs to worry about.
That's the kind of situation I really like seeing.
What I like about this card is that the two abilities create a pretty unique combination.
Scattershot gives you randomness.
Bloodlust rewards you for getting kills.
So you're basically hoping that those random attacks land on the right targets and eventually give your Magus a kill.
Once it gets that first kill, that's when things can start snowballing.
And honestly, a snowballing Bloodlust unit is one of the scariest things in #Splinterlands.
Because at that point, you're not just fighting the original card anymore.
You're fighting a stronger version of it every time it gets another kill.
The biggest advantage of Argarux Magus for me is definitely the 3 mana cost.
Low mana battles can sometimes be annoying because you don't have enough room to build the team you actually want.
A 3 mana unit gives you a lot more flexibility.
You can put it into a lineup without sacrificing too much mana.
And because it has 6 health and 4 speed, it's not just some tiny unit that you add because you have 3 mana left.
It can actually contribute to the fight.
And if it gets a kill?
Even better.
There are quite a few things I like about Argarux Magus:
Only 3 mana
2 magic attack
Good 4 speed
6 health is pretty solid
Scattershot can bypass predictable targeting
Bloodlust can make it stronger after kills
Great potential in low mana battles
Can become a serious threat if it starts snowballing
The biggest thing for me is the 3 mana + Bloodlust combination.
That's pretty interesting.
There are also some downsides:
Scattershot is completely random
Getting the first Bloodlust kill isn't guaranteed
Random attacks can sometimes waste damage
It can be difficult to build a strategy around randomness
If it doesn't get kills, Bloodlust doesn't really matter
So I wouldn't say this is a card that you should blindly use in every battle.
You still need the right situation.
Personally, I think Argarux Magus is most interesting in low mana battles.
When the mana cap is low, every mana point matters.
And getting a card with magic attack, good speed, decent health and Bloodlust for only 3 mana is pretty nice.
I also think it can be fun in battles where the enemy has several relatively low-health units.
More low-health targets means more chances for Scattershot to randomly hit something it can actually finish.
And once that first kill happens, Bloodlust time.
After looking at Argarux Magus properly, I think this is one of those cards that can be easy to overlook.
It's only 3 mana.
It doesn't have a huge attack number.
It only has two abilities.
So at first glance, you might think:
"Eh, nothing special."
But then you remember that one of those abilities is Bloodlust.
And suddenly the card becomes much more interesting.
The potential is definitely there.
The main thing is getting that first kill.
Once Argarux Magus starts getting kills, the extra stats can make it stronger and stronger.
And honestly, I love cards like that.
They might look average at the beginning of the battle, but if you let them survive and start getting kills, suddenly you're like:
"Wait... why is this thing so strong now?!"
Anyway thats it for todayโs #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
