In most things you do in life, taking that first step is the hardest and most scary. More than anything else, it is the fear of the unknown. How many times have you procrastinated due to not being sure where to start, or fear of what may go wrong. True, the history of man is littered by people we will never know as they tried and failed ... for instance, think about every poisonous plant ... there is a reason, and person, that we know it is poisonous. And often it is in memoriam. But this is not the point and not supporting my assertion that one SHOULD start. Indeed, just as there has been the downside of doing something for the first time, no one has EVER been successful at something without starting it ... EVER.
So here I am, having been introduced to the wonder of "Block Chain", crypto currency and yes Steemit, taking a first step. First thoughts when talking to friends and contacts involved in this intriguing new world is hec, sounds like a pyramid scheme. Suppose it is the accountant in me that looks at risks and unknowns. Hardly think that pioneers let that stop them though, but always good to consider things first ... insteed of eating the whole plant, take a small bite and see if you get sick ... and that is what I am going to do.
So here is a short introduction to me. I am a middle aged South African technology entrepreneur. Not only have I successfully started and sold tech businesses, I am starting one again. I am passionate about value creation. If I am the only one that wins, I do not see that there is true value, especially if someone has to lose.
I love Africa, and once I get my head around this technology, I will find and test many applications on this continent using Blockchain and cryptocurrency as a basis, but baby steps.
Step one for me is getting to know you, how this works and what Steemit is about. I will write about this journey as I move along, but for now, here it is my baby step.
