The speech about having someone to experience with you is so true. I remember going to Hawaii with my mom many years ago, and when I was taking pictures, she was flustered that I always wanted her to be in the picture. I reasoned "there are professional photographers that have taken pictures of this (waterfall, flower, whatever). why would I need a lesser quality photo of the same subject for my own? The thing that makes this picture is that you are in it!"
Sadly, it also works the other way. When close friends die, I selfishly think about the things that we did together that no one else but the two of us knew about. When the cohort dies, its like a giant eraser has come and deleted those moments from my life. If I am th only one who knows about it, then it doesn't have any meaning anymore.
