The recurring issue with all of these "complaints" - that the government/media/deepstate has a "double standard", that the government/media/deepstate always gets what it wants, that the government/media/deepstate is somehow thwarting the will of the people - is the presupposition that the government/media/deepstate is somehow beholden to and/or working for the benefit of, and at the will of, the people. It is not. The government exists only to support its own existence. The whole idea of the overriding security interest of the government, "Continuity of Government", exists to ensure that even when the citizenry is completely obliterated - by war, famine, disease or whatever else the govenment chooses to foist upon the citizenry - that the government will continue to exist.

The government exists independently of the citizenry, and in fact the government sees the citizenry as an existential threat. The government has been waging war on the citizenry for a long time. 1963 was an obvious shot across the bow, done only in the confidence that the government knew by then that its mission could not be thwarted. 1913 could have been the start, but who knows? It could have been set up that way from the very beginning.

Anyway, please stop expressing "surprise" or worse, indignation, when the government chooses to once again force its own will on the enemy, the citizenry. It's like the frog and scorpion - the government exists only to subjugate its enemies, and it is only anything contrary to that that should elicit surprise. The government does what it is designed to do. Continue its existence regardless of any damaged caused to any other entity.
