Max hits a few issues that I have lamented for decades.

The issue of "hate" - as the saying goes, "there's a thin line between love and hate". It's true. Both are simply each side of the same coin. In both cases, the subject becomes the center of attention, for all of the good and the bad - stress, lack of attention to other important life goals, loss of control over emotions. The opposite of love isn't hate - it's indifference. "I don't think about you at all" is a far better response. No stress, no time wasted, no energy spent. Rather than wave a bunch of signs, or screaming with clenched fists, just walk away.

I also resonate with Max's evalulation of our education regarding the lack of skills. In fact, when I left uni after three semesters, I told people "after all of this, I'll know 379 ways to make a hockey puck and nothing else" (chemical engineering degree). I've always sought to expand my knowledge (but sadly not my physical skills - I can't build a birdhouse, much less shelter for myself) over as many subjecs as possible, not to "stovepipe" all of my knowledge into a single deed.
