I often hear criticism of the "anonymity" of the internet or of social media platform, but IMO the problem is that there isn't ENOUGH anonymity. IMO, the internet is for sharing of ideas, not for self-aggrandizement nor for bullying people rather than ideas. My vision of the "social media" platform which would work best is the equivalent of a huge blank wall, where anyone can "tag" (post) anything they want. Others would be able to respond to those posts, but with no poster's names, there could not be any ad hominem attacks nor bullying of any particular individual.

Of course, there would be some who simply post "you're a jerk" to every post, and people would post business ads, porn or whatever, but effective filtering tools at the user end could mitigate that. Of course, there's no money in simply sharing ideas, unlike there is in creating a "persona", so we have what we have.
