From someone who is a Christian: while there are numerous terms that we could debate, I do agree with your basic premise - that dominating your fellow man is definitely not a Christian tenet. As illustrated best in the very first Bible story, God gives us free will, and how we use it is the part that will cause evil or good. Our freedom is literally God's will.
I had an argument with a person who brought up that the Pharisees and moneychangers were evil and Jesus cast them from the temple, calling them out as evil. The person believed that story gives us the "duty" of finding sin and casting it out. I pointed out that the story said that Jesus made these judgements and that extending Jesus' power to discern, judge and execute to us plain ol' humans seems a little arrogant to me. As the Declaration of Independence (written by Christians) says, it is "self-evident" that "all men [emphasis on "men", but including all humans] are created equal". Dominating one another is exactly opposite to the teaching of the Bible. It is exactly that, the creartion of a hierarchy of men, that lead me away from Catholicism, with it's hierarchy of who is the most holy, toward a more universal understanding of Christianity.
Taking away human free will is to thwart God's creation. I stand by that. Of course one may protect oneself, but to force one's will onto another is truly un-Christian.
