My friend Ernest hosted a pre-Christmas lunch for a small group of friends. There were six in the group including me and the host - the maximum allowed in a household gathering, under present Covid-19 restrictions.
This time, instead of Ernest cooking the whole meal, we decided to order take-away from a restaurant. The restaurant has a Christmas meal set consisting of a turkey, ham and sausage and a log cake. Ernest will prepare a cheese platter and fried a dish of vegetables to complement the meal.

I had the honour of carving the turkey. I can't say I did a cook job, but all had enough and whatever remained was shredded and used as ingredients for the noodles later on.

We took our time to have a leisurely lunch. The food was excellent. The turkey was nice and tender. The ham and sausage were delicious very tasty. There were no complaints.
Fresh seasonal fruit platter, followed the lunch. There were jackfruit, dragon fruit, mango and guava. Between excited chit-chat and admiration of the fruits, the photo was forgotten.
After lunch, we chatted about things in general - the present Covid-19 situation, and about what else have been happening in our lives.
Then, it was afternoon tea time. Out comes the log cake divided into six pieces. We finished the log cake and between nibbles of snacks and peanuts, we continued our easy banter. With six adults, each contributing something to the conversation, time slipped by quickly.
Soon it was dinner time. Ernest excused himself to cook some noodles. As you can imagine, we were not all that hungry, but it was dinner time and time to eat something.
Noodles tossed with braised mushrooms, leafy greens and shredded turkey meat in dark soy sauce. A light dinner to end the day's feasting.
It was half past ten before we call it a night. We all had a great time. We enjoyed the food, the company, the laughter. I think I speak for all when I say, we wished the time hadn't passed so quickly. However, we had already planned another gathering - tentatively, on the 20th of February 2021. So, something to look forward to.
