We’re both old enough to remember the same faulty reasoning being employed at the height of the AIDS epidemic. They didn’t die from AIDS, they died with AIDS. They died from Kaposi's sarcoma or tuberculosis or pneumonia or anything but AIDS. HIV was merely an underlying condition.
