I am definitely grateful for this day and as it draws to a close, it's time to take a peek into how my stepping went and also share some of the trending stories I came across. So as usual I had two major walks just like yesterday, starting off with the fast paced brisk walk around the neighbourhood. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores and a little bit of resting. The afternoon saw me walk to the shopping centre for some cooking groceries. As always I squeezed in my usual nap before evening set in. Then it was time for the slow paced evening walk enjoying the cool evening breeze🍃. Meanwhile in between the day I had been watching the trending stories on the news and also a little bit of crypto/twitter. let's dive into that next
Locally, the usual political shenanigans 😹 kept going, a rather quiet day.
Globally Ukraine trending after a tragic helicopter crash near Kyiv 🙀. The interior minister was among the 14 people killed in that crash. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families 😭. President Zelensky held a moment of silence as he addressed world leaders electronically at the WEF in Davos. He also continued his appeal for military aid in the face of Russian military attacks.
Across the pond in the US, authorities have arrested the Russian founder of Hong Kong based crypto exchange bitzlato🙀. Russian criminals have allegedly been using that exchange for money laundering 😹.
In Asia the Philippines trending, as Nobel laureate Maria Resa got acquitted of charges of tax evasion and filing inaccurate returns👏. Those charges were politically motivated to shut her up🙀. Most shady regimes usually make life hard for journalists as they try their best to sweep their crooked deals under the carpet😹.
Finally in crazy weather, Afghanistan is experiencing a cold spell with temperatures falling to as low as -21°C🙀. Deaths have been reported in some areas 😭. Meanwhile the number 2 ranking UN leader Amina Mohamed was in Kabul meeting the Taliban. Let's hope she talked sense into them and they will allow girls and women back into education and work 💯. She is a Muslim and high ranking career woman, did they notice😹.
