This fast paced first person shooter lives up to the reputation set by its predecessors. It's fast paced and to the point action in every encounter.
Spoiler alert, do not continue to read if you do not know what the Icon of Sin is to the DOOM franchise.
I have broken the review into a 3 categories to keep my criticism focused on the 3 most important elements of gameplay to me. Visuals, Immersion, Replayability & Multiplayer.
Visual Rating
5/5
The visuals have taken gore as far as I could imagine in a First Person Shooter. The high rate of modern games has been utilized to make beautiful glory kill that take place everytime an enemy is near death in a "stagger" state. There is also multiple variants of glory kill on each enemy depending on the direction you are approaching them from. Shooting explosive rounds, or the new microwave attachment for the Plasma Rifle, will create a gory mess that any action fan will admire.
Even will getting lost looking for secrets you will find artistic expressions with bold, vivid color and lighting that will fully utilize that HDR TV you bought over the last 5 years.
Immersion
5/5
The gameplay mechanics are accented by a skill progression tree that stays true to to the DOOM chemistry. Although there is now X, Y, and Z for physical planes in combat, it still feels like doom. Especially during the Icon of Sin fight, it resembled the DOOM II final fight very well from what I remember grinding it when I was 8 years old. It was a refreshing taste on an old favorite of mine to finish this game. Is this really a spoiler all things DOOM considered?
The story is fairly simple like most of the previous titles. There is a few new enemies which are exciting to deal with, and 1 in particular called the Marauder, have fun with him!
Replayability & Multiplayer
4/5
After completing the campaign I have still kept my plans to pursue full completion as well as attempt to claim all of the achievements.
Multiplayer is very limited although the is plans to include a mode where players can spawn as enemies in the players campaign on the way, it's only fair to judge this book by its contents.
Without vs multiplayer its lack for sure the entire point I took away from this rating subsection. It's actually barely qualifying as a 4 because the single multiplayer mode was incredibly fun, me and a friend played until it was bed time. The DOOM Slayer as he is now known is going to have to take down 2 player demons. The player demons have 8 abilities that vary in each of the 2 modes. Defensive modes have more options to spawn in smaller less intense demons, while pressure mode has aggressive rushing and area effect damage for the Demon Players to dish at the DOOM Slayer Player.
You can play publicly ranked, with XP, or against friends with 3 people. This is very limited and barely justified as a 4/5 but I am very impressed with the balance of gameplay for 2v1 and I hope to see battlemode evolve into something more!
Overall Score 14/15 from

I would still regard this game series as my favorite of all time, I hope to see Multiplayer expand of this will decrease my opinion of DOOM over time. The plans to add more multiplayer modes will soon reveal to me what I should expect from DOOM multiplayer going forward.
some bitch ass pony boy got wrecked.
