I will try to sum up some thoughts provoked by this evening chat at #SteemSavvy discord and one specific post that I read a few minutes ago written by @mindtrap talking about curating under the #NewSteem.
Firstly, before HF21 I was one of those who was yelling from the crowd that the new rewards system will steal money from the authors and put into the pockets of Steem whales... But, on the other side, even I was worried about the lack of upvotes and manual curators on the network. There was a need for a change and it was needed to be done IMMEDIATELY! We were lucky that some other people on STEEM had a bigger picture of the changes and push them through.
Let be honest, it's not ideal... Far from that... But, it is better... I'm personally one of the "smaller users" here on Steem and I have felt on my own skin changes that #NewSteem brought. Some of my posts were upvoted by whales, others were upvoted by manual curating projects, etc... Before the changes, I have NEVER got an upvote from that kind of user, so I'm a living proof that there are differences! And, what is even more important, there are changes in approach to upvoting by bigger accounts.
Secondly, we had a little discussion in Discord about the content on #CTP tribe... What is the right kind of content for our tribe? Affiliate marketing content, personal development, Actifit, etc... More-less, it is clear what is welcomed on the platform and it is enough to take a look at trending or hot page and you can see how a quality post has to look. But, regarding all that, there are always users who post a picture totally irrelevant to our tribe and expect to get a bunch of votes for that...
As @jongolson said on Discord, we have to protect our #CTP token and community by downvoting content that is not connected in any way with our tribe. I would just say one more thing on this... If you are giving some value to the community, you are welcome to collect benefits from it... You will receive a bunch of upvotes and you will actually EARN money for improving the community... But, if you are here to use us, you are knocking at the wrong door...
We are lucky that we have already build a great base for our community and we have really awesome people posting great stuff... New people coming almost every day and we are helping them to integrate to Steem and CTP as much as we can, and as much as we know... Sharing ideas, sharing knowledge and showing all the possibilities that we have here on Steem...
In the end, I would like to thank everyone from our small community for their awesome content, personal journals, for bringing examples from personal lives to help others to avoid some big mistakes...
Keep on building great content, engage with your viewers/readers, and don't worry... Curators on #CTP and #NewSteem will find and upvote your valuable content... You won't be a millionaire after 5 posts, but you will find some great people here on Steem to help you out to improve yourself...
