Russian leadership always has seemed to have a chip on its shoulder. An outsider bully that doesn't get invited to the lunch table (Europe), so it tries to flip the table out of jealousy. All the while not realizing their own attitude and policy is why nobody wants to sit down with them. It's never been so obvious as now.

Add to that a delusional belief that they are (or should be) the true masters of the world, coupled with the frustrating reality of that not being or becoming true.

If you want to be European, do as Europeans do. Ukraine learned this, and became a vulnerable table for Putin to flip.
