Greetings to every hunter in the community, I bring to you the a little demonstration of my body guards. Their pictures are everywhere.
On my way to the market to purchase what to eat and drink, I encountered these guys. Yes, shadows, and they were really beautiful.
They stretched long when the sun stood high, then crouched low when the afternoon got tired. Some were thin like broom sticks, others wide like the shade of an iroko tree. They followed me step for step, never asked for money, never complained about the heat.
This shadow didn’t shoot. It stood guard.
Hand up, like, “I’m watching the corner for you.”
This one, see how he raised his hand like a soldier on duty. Not saluting fear — saluting survival. On red earth, with my Crocs at the corner of the frame, he stood tall even when my legs were tired. He didn’t need light to shine. He just needed me to keep walking.
Shadows don’t talk, but that day they spoke. They said: “We’re with you, even when your pocket is light and your steps are heavy."
Thanks for visiting!
