I feel like Luke was added in just as a flex and to get people talking. The plot point involves Grogu's relationship with the Mandalorian, and Luke is of secondary importance. The main thing to me will be how will this era of Star Wars feel vital, when we know the First Order and the sequels loom in the future for all these characters. It feels like all of their efforts will be wasted, since we know the threat of the First Order takes over the galaxy eventually. My question is, how does the Mandalorian, Grogu and Boba Fett fit into what we already knows will happen. Will their efforts be lost or wasted?
