I have worked with a lot of Bosses all through the time when I was still In Lagos, and then I traveled to another state which is Benue State, I also worked under people here, before I finally become an employer of Labor.
In my experience there are lot of things that make you stay in a place of work, first things first is Good Pay
Good Salary and Good Bonus/Reward structure: are one of the Major keepers of Workers or Staffs.
When I was working in school then, I was being paid what will actually help me meet my End Meet, buy clothes, buy food stuffs, help me family and friends.
That is just the major reason for work, we work out ass off, just to make that money, as simple as that.
If your salary is not helping you live and survive the Economy as a worker or staff you will definitely be thinking how to leave the company or individual you are working for, so as to get a greener pastures.
It's is not a rocket science,
I remembered when I was still teaching in Lagos state Nigeria, that was about 11 or 12 years ago, I was Being paid twenty thousand naira (#20,000), that money was able to make me survive because then the School provided accommodation, there is light and water, so no cause for concern. The school has a proprietor that really was good to us, so there was no toxic or Bad work environment.
I remember the school management also allowed us to do extra lessons and tuitions for the pupil, even as far as doing a home lesson. This helped us in school to make extra cash and made us smile home every month end apart from our Basic salary, so the salary made us more productive.
Fast forward to now that I now employed people for my Business, I make sure all my worker receive a handsome reward for their services.
Just recently we had a meeting, and my workers complained on the salary, I had to Swifty add more to their salaries and still add a daily Feeding bonus.
The Economy nowadays is not smiling, there is inflation every where and this the best I can do for them.
Another vital point for Making workers/staffs to stay at work place is Good Working Environments.
Non Toxic Environment;
A toxic environment for work is when you experience problems and negativity in your place of work, examples are Bad leadership, physical and emotional abuse, stressful and burnout experience at work, a workplace that lacks growth,
Lack of communication or Bad communication, hate between workers, molestation and oppression.
A good working environment must avoid all this, or the must be devoid of any of the above points mentioned.
I as a person have experienced a toxic workplace, unfortunately circumstances during those time made me stay there for long, It was not a pleasant experience at all.
This is why in my Company, I encourage positive behaviours, modesty, positivity and optimism, no backbiting or fighting, no bullying no hate or bitterness in my work place ( although they can exhibit it elsewhere not in my place of work)
Sometimes I will be with the staff they Joke, they laugh, they tease me politely and I love that.
Chance for Growth
One benefits that is very motivating is Growth in the work place, there should be a form of Promotion and Rewards for the best performing workers or staffs.
Let the staffs get promoted after they did their best in a level, depending on the firm or organisations.
Yeah so this are some of the little tips that keeps a worker or Staffs at their Workplace.
