To be determined denotes to be resolute about achieving certain pre- announced goals and objectives.It is the ability to remain undaunted in the face of hurdles and hopeless situations. Determination makes for resilience and tenacity in the pursuit of one's ambition.It is a source of intrinsic motivation for an unparalleled achievement that enables the individual to press- on even when the going gets tougher than envisaged.
To have lofty dreams and ambition is one thing but the crux lies in staying poised and determined towards achieving one's dreams.without determination,those lofty dreams and ambitions could be reduced to mere fantasies or shattered dreams.I am often motivated by the no mean achievements of great men in whose strides,in the sand of time,shall at all times remain indelible.
Thomas Edison-an American inventor-after way over 900 failed experiments successfully invented the light bulbs.
Thomas would have given-up in the face of those successive failed experiments but he was resilient and purpose-driven.To his credit,he remained dogged until he made a historical achievement that out-lived him.The lesson to be learned here is that the number of times we fail in the course of trying does not count until we quit from trying.
Another character whose unalloyed spirit of doggedness readily comes to mind is Abraham Lincoln(The 16th President of The United States Of America). Lincoln was bedeviled with failure in virtually all facets of his endeavours.he failed in business and spent 17years paying- off the overhead capital for his failed business,he ran for public offices but failed.In the face of these setbacks,he was not deterred,his perseverance was not waned by them;he remained on course. After some more attempts,his perseverance paid-up and in 1860,he was elected the 16th occupant of The Oval Office and one of the greatest and most admired American president of all time
His road-map to the White House was not bereft of obstacles that could have caused his zest to plummet to the nadir had he looked down on his laurels.Today, he is commemorated as the preserver of the American federalism from disintegration during the civil war years(1861-1865).
The list is endless of people who never gave-in in the face of quandaries.i may not,for want of time,be able to chronicle them but their names and deeds will always be evergreen in the pages of history. If we stay determined and diligent in our business,we shall sooner or later stand before kings and not mean men.The exact opposite plays out when we are derailed.
