Writing can be difficult - it requires being creative, generating content that provides an outlook to the community that has not already been expounded upon. Furthermore, a good writer has to be persistent in writing content. It can be very easy to become distracted, to become discouraged by external happenings, which in turn can cause someone who wants to begin writing to stop. The Pareto principle states that "rougly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes" [Wikipedia]. Often we spend most of our time becoming distracted - talking about our goals instead of actively pursuing them, the amount of time we spend in producing actual work often overshadows the amount of time doing other low impact actions. Distractions come in the way of time to think creatively and produce high quality content.

I started writing more because of incentivization

Before Steemit I had a hard time becoming a consistent writer/content creator. I had many attempts at creating unsuccessful blogs on Wordpress, Medium and various other platforms. I would often write a post for a couple of posts for my new blog on a platform and then forget to follow up with more.

Some part of me used to feel as though I was not being properly rewarded for my work

The combination of the lack of creative ideas, de-motivation through lack of incentivization, and inconsistency led me to start writing less.

Steemit has definitely changed that for me and many others by providing a place where I could express my voice, and included a way in which I could be properly rewarded for the amount of content that I contributed to the community.

I would like to thank the Steem community for helping me find my voice as a writer and supporting me for over 3 months so far
