Recently after posting something of personally subpar content, I lost a couple of followers. I know. I know. It's not the end of the world, I could definitely come back and gain followers through writing better posts, but I did not want to make this a habit. It's like taking a bite out of the cookie jar, the first one might not seem that bad but after eating thousands of cookies you realize that you are starting to have health problems. One or two bad posts might not hit your reputation that bad in the long run, but once it becomes a habit and you start posting things that don't represent your unique outlook, and you just start posting things induced by greed, people will not be interested in you anymore and will probably want you to stop clogging up their feed.
I recently released my first Steemit based application SteemIQ which provides an intelligent way of testing the quality of your writing. A couple of weeks back I saw a statistic that showed that Steemit had the most intelligent user base out of any of the main social networks. When we post content on Steemit that has no external value, no positive impact we are just becoming like other social networks, where the majority of people post memes (though I have nothing against memes) and bad content. Below is the personal scale that I use for quality control:
Just like the justice system weighs different aspects of a case in court, I weigh different facets of my writing and thinking so that I can get better and produce even better quality content.

Writing on Steemit is like writing with a permanent marker, someone can always go back and see what you wrote and what you edited, because everything is on the blockchain for everyone to see. Even though the content may not be available to viewers on Steemit.com one can definitely go to a site such as Steemd and figure out what you wrote by looking at your history on the blockchain.
