This morning, in an extremely surprising turn of events, Donald Trump formally endorsed the steemit community over Twitter. Trump who has vehemently supported Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in the past stating things such as, "Huge, absolutely huge, believe me, when I first heard about Bitcoin and how it worked I knew it had to be an instant success," and "The U.S. Dollar needs to go. Bitcoin is the future," took it to Twitter today shortly after learning about steemit:
The presidential nominee then followed up his tweet with a picture of him supporting the cryptocurrency based social network:
Trump also published a letter to the steemit community, which you can read below:
Dear Steemit Community,
First off, I would like to thank the developers for creating such a great product. The developers are what make it happen. You guys make the system work. Believe me, I know a ton of people in the tech industry. Great people each and every one of them. You guys are the brains that run the world. When I first read the steemit whitepaper, I was blown away. The amount of tech and hardwork that goes into making such a strong system that brings value is just amazing. Therefore, I would like to donate a small sum of one million dollars to show my support for the steemit community.

Having a figure with such financial acumen, as well as persuasive skills will help propel steemit into another public stratosphere. In a phone interview done recently after the endorsement, Trump said:
