Good evening or good night, blog friends, here I am again reviewing a book I've read. I've been wanting to read fantasy lately, and I discovered this author, Rebecca Ross, whom I really liked. I found her two novels from the Queen of the North saga in one book, and last night I finished reading the first one, which I'm now going to tell you about. It's a novel suitable for those who love fantasy, featuring other worlds, lands, magic, and war. It's also suitable for young adults because it's not too crude or erotic.

The plot centers on Brianna, a young girl whose grandfather leaves her for a special school where anyone can become a master of a specific discipline, mastering it with skill. The disciplines are art, eloquence, music, theater, and wisdom. Brianna lives in a land called Valenia, but it's known that she also has Maevian origins, from another land ravaged by conflict and ruled by a tyrannical king. Brianna doesn't know who her father is, and a secret lingers about her paternal origins. Over the years, Brianna fails to excel in any subject at school. She gradually moves closer to Sapienza, where she develops a strong bond with her teacher, Cartier. But at the end of school, when all her classmates find a patron who takes them under his wing, she is left alone and without a patron.

Buenas noches, amigos del blog. Aquí estoy de nuevo con la reseña de un libro que he leído. Últimamente tenía ganas de leer fantasía y descubrí a esta autora, Rebecca Ross, que me encantó. Encontré sus dos novelas de la saga de la Reina del Norte en un solo volumen, y anoche terminé la primera, de la que ahora les voy a hablar. Es una novela ideal para los amantes de la fantasía, con mundos, tierras, magia y guerras. También es apta para jóvenes adultos, ya que no es demasiado explícita ni erótica.

La trama gira en torno a Brianna, una joven cuyo abuelo la deja para que asista a una escuela especial donde cualquiera puede dominar una disciplina específica. Las disciplinas son arte, elocuencia, música, teatro y sabiduría. Brianna vive en una tierra llamada Valenia, pero se sabe que también tiene raíces maevianas, de otra tierra devastada por la guerra y gobernada por un rey tirano. Brianna desconoce la identidad de su padre y un secreto sobre sus orígenes paternos la atormenta. Con el paso de los años, Brianna no logra destacar en ninguna asignatura escolar. Poco a poco se acerca a la Sapienza, donde desarrolla un fuerte vínculo con su profesor, Cartier. Pero al finalizar el curso, mientras todos sus compañeros encuentran un benefactor que los acoge, ella se queda sola y sin nadie que los proteja.

Thanks to her visions, a patron takes an interest in her, and from there she begins her fight to restore the lineage in Maevania, discover her origins, and defeat the cruel king. Aided by some exiles who want the throne back, thanks to her visions and her search for the stone, Brianna will be a vitally important pawn in restoring the rightful queen of Maevania to the throne.

And of course, beyond politics and fantasy, there's also a touch of romance. It's a very enjoyable fantasy, easy to read and understand, including the dynasties and houses, suitable for adults and teenagers, and written in a simple and direct style. It's not one of the best fantasy books I've read, it has some flaws, like the plot being a bit flat at times and the love story not being developed very well, but overall I liked it and now I'll read the second volume too.

Es una fantasía muy entretenida, de fácil lectura y comprensión, que incluye información sobre dinastías y casas, apta para adultos y jóvenes, y escrita con un estilo sencillo y directo. No es uno de los mejores libros de fantasía que he leído; tiene algunos defectos, como que la trama a veces es un poco plana y la historia de amor no está muy bien desarrollada, pero en general me gustó y ahora leeré también el segundo volumen.
